Man Gone 04:20
Mmm... Ready? Sated Sated? No, I meant sedated I felt defeated I need to take some time now I’m about to set you free but - (Theme) Mmm... Ready? Or else jaded Of the loneliest bunch Ever created I’m fully aware now I neet to take some time now I’m about to set you free but - Tararararara! Split to flip the switch to be That man that frees your mind, girl Strict and made to fit to be The one who’s bringing me down low Imma cut you away now I need to take some time now I’m about to set you free but That would make your man gone Man gone Man gone Man gone (Verse instrumental) Split to flip the switch to be That man that frees your mind, girl Strict and made to fit to be The one who’s bringing me down low Imma cut you away now I need to feed my ego I’m about to set you free but That would make me beg you! I’m not in need to be The one you’d be the one for Strict and made to fit to be The one who’s bringing me down low Imma cut you away now, I need to feed my ego I’m about to set you free but That would make your man gone Man gone Man gone Man gone (Time change) I’m not crazy I work like a wonder Lopsided, steady But that would make your man gone I’m not crazy I need to feed my ego My mind speaks unintelligible mumbo jumbo I would like to set you free but That would make your man gone I would like to set you free, but - I would like to set you free, but - I would like to set you free, but - That would make your man gone (Theme)

I See You 04:25
I’ll have this destroy me I’ll have this destroy me (Tapping glass for attention) Let me just say “I see you” Let me just say “I see you” And “we care about you” And “we know about you” Let me just say “I see you” Let me just say “I see you” And “we care about you” And “we know I love you so” What is sane? What is sane? What is staying on? What is staying on? Let me just say “I see you” I don’t wanna play “I feel you” And “we care about you” And “we know I love you so” Let me just say “I see you” I don’t wanna play the whole “I feel for you” And “we care about you” And “we know I love you so” That is sickening (void-in) As much as it’s Freudian I’ll have this destroy me I’ll have this destroy me As sickening as it may sound As much as it seems wrong I’ll have this destroy me I’ll have this destroy me That is sickening (sharp inhale) Just sickening (whimper) That is sickening (sharp inhale) Just sickening (whimper) What is going on? What is going on? And “we care about you” And “we know I love you so”

May I refuse to perceive you? Then I’d be hard and resistant Call it denial or forgotten desire but that - Train my remote heart and please it Praised to be right and redemptive Indeed, might it be rough or as smooth as refined silk then - When I renew my decision Blinded by stubborn rejection (Maybe) as a precise will or bad faith inspiring me - It’s bad for my body It’s cruel to my body May I reduce what I’m feeling Give it a smaller dimension (Maybe) either beside me or far deep inside me then - You’re friend to my body You’re there for my body But then the hurt and grieving pass Instead of blurred I see as through a spying glass And then the ground becomes uneven The doubt is gone the fault forgiven Within the heart the fear is crushed If there’s a chance to tear it smoothly all apart And then the sight becomes deceiving The floor is soft and folds beneath me Maybe I’ll be fair to your body Maybe I’ll be fair to your body

Fiume 03:47

about

"I See You" aspired to be the tale of a healing, eventually ending up telling the story of a recovery that seems neverending. The expositions of the themes covered therein, borrow some of the concepts examined in "Pragmatics of Human Communication" (Watzlawick, Beavin, Jackson), as highlighted in the following quotes.
"Man Gone" is a conversation with a monster. His voice confronts us with a choice: if we really want to, he can set us free, but at what cost.
"Observing that the families of psychiatric patients often demonstrated drastic repercussions (depression, psychosomatic attacks, and the like) when the patient improved, he postulated that these behaviors and perhaps therefore the patient's illness as well were "homeostatic mechanisms," operating to bring the disturbed system back into its delicate balance." (Op. Cit.)
"I See You" is an account that doesn't lend itself to manipulation. A heart-wrenching call to trusting your senses, your intuition and your memory.
"This situation is frequently compounded by the more or less overt prohibition to show any awareness of the contradiction or the real issue involved. A person in a double bind situation is therefore likely to find himself punished (or at least made to feel guilty) for correct perceptions, and defined as "bad" or "mad" for even insinuating that there be a discrepancy between what he does see and what he "should"." (Ibidem)
"Be Fair To Your Body" is a very old and mundane song about not loving terrible men. Resurrected for its melody, the main theme has been altered and reworked in "Fiume", a parallel version, yet light years apart. The text is a poem extracted from the unpublished short story "Seri Provvedimenti" (2008), rich in tingling and stinging teenage appetites, and so it should be.
"Man Gone Reprise" is an echo of a past struggle. The lyrics are the same, but their threatening power is lost, changed into a monotone chant repeating over and over.
